This is the official Loftus Family site for the April 2010 General Conference Breakfast of Champions. For those who are new: We have accepted the challenge to read every talk in the April, 2010 Ensign. In addition, we will select at least one quote from each talk and record it and a short reflection of why that quote is important to us. The Breakfast of Champions will be held in October, 2010 at IHOPs in Provo and Hillsboro.

ReplyDeleteI REALLY liked reading and watching this talk. Elder Holland said all of this so powerfully, and his message definitely came across to me.
ReplyDeleteHere are some keynotes/phrases I liked and why:
1)"...this mist of darkness descends on all the travelers-the faithful and the determined...as well as the weaker and the ungrounded ones."
I like this because it is true, but sometimes hard for people with challenges to accept. I know when people have challenges, sometimes it seems like no one else is struggling, and they're the only one with problems. But, everyone has problems. We have to remember that.
2)I like the part when he talks about how much the Book of Mormnon has been ridiculed and attacked.
3)"...if he or she leaves the Church, it must be done by crawling over or under or around the Book of Mormon."
The Boook of Mormon is the keystone of our religion. Even people who were helping Joseph Smith with the Book of Mormon that fell away from the Church could NOT deny that the Book f Mormon was true. I also liked how powerful he talked here. He really wanted to make a point.
Elder Holland gave a very powerful testimony of the Book of Mormon.
ReplyDelete"Love. Healing. Help. Hope. The power of Christ to counter all troubles in all times.-including the end of times." (which feels alot closer with the earthquakes in Haiti & Chile.)
We need to turn to the Lord in times of trouble, but stay close & show gratitude in good times. We need to constantly (everyday) read the Book of Mormon to learn & grow. Living on the earth is great- we need to not be lazy, but make the most of it.
