This is the official Loftus Family site for the April 2010 General Conference Breakfast of Champions. For those who are new: We have accepted the challenge to read every talk in the April, 2010 Ensign. In addition, we will select at least one quote from each talk and record it and a short reflection of why that quote is important to us. The Breakfast of Champions will be held in October, 2010 at IHOPs in Provo and Hillsboro.
This was such an interesting talk for me. I want to go back & study it more because I"m sure it will come up in gospel discussions with nonmembers. I was taught in high school "that truth is relative & that everyone decides for himself or herself what is right." I wish we were taught "only an internal moral compass in each individual that can effectively deal with the root causes as well as the symptoms of societal decay." I'm grateful that my parents taught me "the gospel of Jesus Christ that provides the moral certainty upon which moral discipline rests." Elder Christofferson specifies that it is important that these things are taught (by word & action): "moral agency must be accompanied by moral discipline...based on moral standards...consistent exercise of agency to choose the right because it is right, even when it is hard. Calais & Taylor: if you have to write a paper on morality, look this talk up & quote Elder Christofferson.
