This is the official Loftus Family site for the April 2010 General Conference Breakfast of Champions. For those who are new: We have accepted the challenge to read every talk in the April, 2010 Ensign. In addition, we will select at least one quote from each talk and record it and a short reflection of why that quote is important to us. The Breakfast of Champions will be held in October, 2010 at IHOPs in Provo and Hillsboro.
I can tell from the way Elder Holland is talking that he is telling an experience about a dear friend. I was about to write that I don't think I could come to know the Savior like he does, but I can! I need to study and pray and emulate Christ-like attributes, then I will get to know Him better. "(He) had to know how the rest of humankind would feel when we did commit such sins. For His Atonement to be infinite and eternal, He had to feel what it was like to die not only physically but spiritualy, to sense what it was like to have the divine Spirit withdraw, leaving one feeling totally, abjectly hopelessly alone." When we repent, we can have the Spirit with us again. Jesus can help us through the repentence process because He knows what we've been through and how to be forgiven. We don't have to be alone (footprints poem). "The truth (is) we will never be left alone nor unaided, even if sometimes we may feel that we are." Friends or family may be inspired to say a kind, loving word that boosts our spirit or we may feel a soft reassurance of the Spirit that God cares. By overcoming the natural man, we truly can have the Spirit with us always.
