This is the official Loftus Family site for the April 2010 General Conference Breakfast of Champions. For those who are new: We have accepted the challenge to read every talk in the April, 2010 Ensign. In addition, we will select at least one quote from each talk and record it and a short reflection of why that quote is important to us. The Breakfast of Champions will be held in October, 2010 at IHOPs in Provo and Hillsboro.
1. Study Diligently
ReplyDelete"crash courses are not nearly so effective as the day-to-day reading and application of the scriptures in our lives."
"learn the background and setting and study them as though they were speaking to you for such is the truth." They didn't have a set of scriptures per person back then. They are for us to study!
"I promise you...that if you will study the scriptures diligently, your power to avoid temptation and to receive direction of the Holy Ghost in all you do will be increased."
-This is because we will have spiritual things on our minds and the Holy Ghost will want to be closer to us. I have noticed I can come up with spiritual thoughts to share easier if I've had good studies recently. ie. breakfast of champions challenge.
2. Pray fervently
"prayer is the provider of spiritual strength, it is the passport to peace. Prayer is the means by which we approach our Heavenly Father, who loves us. Speak to Him in prayer and then listen for the answer. Miracles are wrought through prayer." We can (and should) pray about any aspect of our lives! Heavenly Father loves us and wants to hear from us.
3. Live Righteously
We never know when we will be called upon to help others. We must live righteously so we can be intune with the Spirit to help others.
